Christian Blex appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra about

The German conductor Christian Blex has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for the 2026/2027–2028/2029 seasons. This year, Blex won the prestigious Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award 2025 and has, since 2022, served as assistant to Kirill Petrenko at the Berliner Philharmoniker after winning the Siemens Conductors Scholarship.

As part of creating an international and dynamic concert hall, Japanese-American composer Karen Tanaka will serve as Composer-in-Association at Malmö Live Concert Hall and Malmö Symphony Orchestra for both the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons.
