Two weeks, seven symphonies and Robert Trevino on the podium – these are the ingredients for this ambitious Sibelius Festival.

Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 begins with airy strings reminiscent of a warm sunny day, but it isn’t long before cold winds set in. The opposite happens in the third movement, with an oboe conjuring images of a sleepy landscape. Sibelius created something new and unique with this work, and musicologists still debate its structure to this day.

Symphony No. 5 contains one of the most enchanting motifs that the symphonic repertoire has to offer: the finale’s armada of flying swans. Just when you think that the music couldn’t possibly be more beautiful, Sibelius takes things to yet another level.
