Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Radio Choir and Malin Byström Guest performance by Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester and Radiokören.
Follow the red thread of music history from minimalism to romanticism, ending in a Spanish fiesta.
Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester and Radiokören visit Malmö Live together with the orchestra’s chief conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the acclaimed Swedish soprano Malin Byström in a programme that highlights Walpurgis Night as a source of musical inspiration.
The programme opens with Helena Munktell’s “poem for orchestra” Valborgsmässoeld and concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s grand cantata Die Erste Walpurgisnacht. In between, there will be opera music in the form of the finale from Richard Strauss’s last opera Capriccio, as well as a suite from British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage’s new opera Festen, based on the Danish Dogme film of the same name from 1995.
