Russian Classical Ballet - The Best of Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker

On 30 October 2021, the Malmö Live concert hall will be filled with the festive atmosphere of Russian classical ballet. Enjoy fairy tales about beautiful princesses and princes!

Opera composer and great symphonist Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky went down in history as the reformer of ballet music. He wrote three ballets: Swan Lake in 1876, Sleeping Beauty in 1889, and The Nutcracker in 1892. The historical premiere of these ballets took place at Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. All of them had a huge impact on the art of choreography. With the appearance of the ballets by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky staged by choreographer Marius Petipa, this genre has acquired the same place in art as opera and symphony. The ballet became an expression of great ideas, deep feelings, and complex characters.

Programme

The performance programme will include the most popular excerpts from the legendary ballets: The Nutcracker - an exciting and magical New Year story about the Nutcracker Prince and Marie; Swan Lake - a romantic tale of Prince Siegfried, Odette and Odile, of love and fidelity; and Sleeping Beauty - an incredible story about fairy tale heroes, Princess Florine and the Bluebird, Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré and all-conquering power of love.
