Symfoni nr 35

Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus

In June 1781, Mozart finally succeeded in freeing himself from servitude to the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg and settled in Vienna to support himself as an unrestrained artist. Commissions rained down. In summer 1782, he was commissioned to compose a serenade as background music for festivities to celebrate the ennoblement of a member of the powerful Salzburg family Haffner. Having composed the work to a tight deadline, when Mozart took out the score again later that year he was amazed by its quality and decided to revise the work into the Haffner Symphony.
