Erik Mikael Karlsson is the Managing Director and Artistic Director of Malmö Live Concert Hall and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. He has previously served as Managing Director of Norrlandsoperan, Head of Live Music at Sveriges Radio P2 in Stockholm, and National Program Manager for the P1, P2, and P4 channels at Sveriges Radio Malmö.

In addition, Erik Mikael Karlsson has been active as a composer in Denmark, France, Sweden, and Germany, working in the fields of electroacoustic music, radio art, and computer music. He has received commissions from organizations such as Danmarks Radio in Copenhagen, Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne, INA-GRM in Paris, the French Ministry of Culture, Cullberg Ballet, and Sveriges Radio. He has won a number of international awards for his music.
