Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

- It is extremely honoring that Malmö Symphony Orchestra has been invited by Europe's foremost concert hall in a really prestigious project with world baritone Bryn Terfel together with more soloists and a large choir. In total, there will be almost 200 participants on stage, says Per Hedberg who is program manager for Malmö Symphony Orchestra.

The resources required to perform "Faust's condemnation" mean that the work is very rarely performed and a large audience is therefore to be reckoned with in both Germany and the Netherlands. Violinist Britt Forsströmson in MSO sees that the tour will be an enriching experience for the orchestra on several levels:

- On the one hand, it is of course a fantastic opportunity for us to meet a new audience in several big cities and inspiring to work with such a talented choir and famous baritone, on the other hand, it is developing for the orchestra to play the same work so many times during different acoustic conditions.

The fact that MSO will play in concert halls such as Amsterdam's world-famous Het Concertgebouw and Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie also means good exposure for the city of Malmö, which has already begun discussions with Hamburg about a more extensive cultural exchange in the future.

- The concert halls MSO visits are all four among Europe's top ten, which will hopefully soon include Malmö Live. This tour can contribute to that, says Jesper Larsson who is CEO and concert hall manager at Malmö Live.
