(Paus): Förstå - genom stillhet, handla - ur stillhet, vinna - i stillhet
On 19 October, Malmö Live Concert Hall will be opening Kuben for a meditative concert in the spirit of Dag Hammarskjöld, Understand – through the stillness, act – out of the stillness, conquer – in the stillness.
The event will begin with an hour of voluntary silence before seamlessly transitioning into a 60-minute concert. The central role will be taken by vocal ensemble Voices of Scandinavia under the leadership of conductor Robert Bennesh, who will perform a programme of works by composers such as Arvo Pärt, Vivanco and Philip Glass.
The meditation concert is part of the PAUSE series at Malmö Live Concert Hall, aimed at creating a moment of stillness, reflection and recovery for the modern human – through music, art and aural images. Among other events, a large number of popular morning concerts have already been arranged.
The title of the concert, Understand – through the stillness, act – out of the stillness, conquer – in the stillness, is taken from Dag Hammarskjöld’s book Markings, published in 1963. Markings, a collection of aphorisms, haikus and personal reflections, remains constantly relevant, not least in conjunction with this year’s visit by the UN Security Council to Dag Hammarskjöld’s home, Backåkra.
